Through our 2026 quest through scripture, different weekly writers offer their personal reflections and together we encounter:
Riches and promise offered by God
With themes of: treasure, wisdom and grace
Recognition of our struggles and hope for a way forward
Among these: mental health and faith, slavery, exile and home, pride and prejudice, the seasons of life
Direction and guidance
We reflect on authority and governance, instruction and inspiration from Jesus' ministry, and counsel from God's servants such as Isaiah and Paul
Lives and characters of the Bible
We start the year with 'Finding Jesus', and later look at the character of the prophets, setbacks and comebacks of Bible figures, and the importance of names
The anticipation and hope of Advent
Prophecies throughout the Old Testament and symbols which reveal the nature of Christ (the 'Great O Antiphons') lead up to gospel accounts of the 'Word made flesh' in Jesus' birth.
Selected weeks use continuous or regular readings to spotlight the books Ruth and Isaiah from the Old Testament and epistles to the Romans and Thessalonians (1 and 2) from the New Testament.
Our central Gospel for the year is Matthew: following the Christmas story studied in Advent 2025, the 2026 edition continues with Jesus' baptism and His ministry, focusing on the voices of Holy Week and the Resurrection through Passiontide to Easter Sunday.
